Cloud Data Architect (m/f/d)
We make the world better with data
The Woodmark Group is a leading consulting organization specializing in AI, data, and analytics. We inspire people through our passion for data and innovation while supporting organizations on their digital transformation journey. Living our values of respect, openness, trust, and care fosters an excellent corporate culture and forms the foundation of our success.
Your diverse range of responsibilities
DevOps is practiced throughout the organization: As part of a DevOps team, you’ll independently develop cloud-based and on-premises data platforms and data supply processes.
Translating and Implementing Requirements: Based on business requirements, you’ll create technical data engineering concepts, implement them in code, and integrate them into overarching architectures. You’ll apply your knowledge of technologies and supporting tools (coding, ETL, data prep, streaming), data storage systems (Blob stores, SQL, NoSQL, document, and Node databases), and state-of-the-art modeling techniques to support clients with proof-of-concepts and implement client requirements in projects.
Teamwork as a Key to Success: Project-based coordination and collaboration with architects, business units, and decision-makers lead to the successful implementation of projects.
Taking on Responsibility: You can independently execute and manage larger projects as a technical project manager. Drawing on your extensive experience, you’ll set the direction for data engineering processes and help guide less experienced team members.
Communication is key: You’re constantly engaging in close dialogue with
- your clients to ensure professional expectation management and client satisfaction,
- your project team to ensure the project’s success, and, of course,
- the Woodmark team to foster knowledge sharing and mutual support.
What you bring to the table
Project experience: Since you already have at least three years of experience in data engineering, you have an excellent understanding of data and in-depth knowledge of data transformation, particularly in the cloud using AWS Glue or Databricks.
Expertise is a given: You have
- a deep understanding of various data structures (relational, JSON, XML) and the ability to derive appropriate storage formats in layer models (3NF, Data Vault, star schema)
- a broad understanding of data engineering services and their seamless integration with other services such as streaming, machine learning, and reporting
- advanced knowledge of workflow management systems such as Airflow, AWS Data Pipelines, EKS, Lambda, EventBridge, or Step Functions
- Knowledge of multiple data storage technologies (SQL databases, data lakes, data lakehouses, document databases, node databases)
- Comprehensive knowledge of SQL
- Programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala, and familiarity with Spark
A stakeholder-oriented mindset helps us move forward: You have experience collaborating with stakeholders at various levels.
Support the “Making of a Star”: You enjoy supporting other Woodmarkers with your experience, because we love diversity and you make a difference.
Fluency in German and English: You’re comfortable with the German language and English documentation, and you can participate when English is spoken during project work.
